The Watertower and Beneath the Surface

Today a new book came to our school called 'Beneath the Surface'. We have read the first book, called 'The Watertower'. The start of them both are the same but the second one has a bit more detail. Both books are a bit creepy. Sirs voice makes the story sound really scary!!

Hannah's point.

I prefer the second book, the sequel, because Spike gets turned into an alien and 'Beneath the Surface' gives more information and detail. In the first book it show Bubba and Spike as like 10,11 or 12 year olds but in this follow up, it shows him 20 years older precisely because it says so in the book, but everyone says that he looks 50 odd.

Sam's point.

I prefer the first one because it has more of a mystery because he hates the water then at the end he loves the water. At first he said that his mother didn't really care where he went but now he said what a worrier she is. There is a lot of mystery in the first one.

Hannah: My favourite line is 'From the moment he stepped off the coach, he knew they were watching'. I like this line because it has a lot of thought. Watching from what is the point?

Sam: My favourite line is 'Nobody in Preston could remember when the water tower was built or who had built it,' because it makes you think at the start of the book.

In conclusion, we think that both books are fantastic and we really like the fact that the author has made the book look like it is a mystery. These books are really good!!!
