AHSLEY ROAD
Yesterday the athletics team went to Ashley Road to compete as a team for the school. The first event was the hurdles 70m girls then it was the boys turn over the hurdles. Other events were going on at the same time. For example; the long jump was held by Mr McComas and Mr Prosser. This was a team event, which meant that everybody who took part, even if they came last, still scored points for the school. Here is a list of all the pupils from Clydach Primary who came first- Elliot Prosser- 100m and long jump Karolinka Bacakova- 100m sprint and high jump. Liam Osman- hurdles Kasey Noble- hurdles Everyone who took part did really well, so a big WELL DONE!

Today the whole of 6M went out on the yard. We laid out tape measures up to ten meters long and ran up and down six times and in the quickest time we could. We were all in groups of five or six, one of us controlled the Ipad with the stopwatch and another with pencil and paper writing down our times. After, we had to go around the track in a specific time like thirty seconds around the track once. We all had a really good time and would love to have another go soon!
Here are some of the numeracy skills we used in Athletics today:- Timing to the nearest tenth of a second Measuring to the nearest metre Finding the mean (average) Estimating how long it takes to run round the track. Sir asked us to run around it in 20 seconds, 30 seconds and one minute. We had to judge our pace and it was quite hard. |
