World War II Missions

This year, Year six are going to be doing World War II missions. When I say missions, I mean tasks. For the missions we are doing four literacy missions, four numeracy missions, four ICT missions and creative missions.
For the literacy we are going to write an information text, write a letter, write a diary entry and we have to design a poster.
For the numeracy we have to work out rationing maths, work out the area and volume of a World War II shelter, estimating and addition of money and how many casualties.
For ICT we have to create an animation, produce a short film, create a radio play and produce a news report.
The creative missions are to make a World War II blitz scene, observational drawing of WWII items and make a WWII Christmas decoration.
We are doing the missions so children like myself can choose what work they do and become more independent. We normally do the missions in the afternoon but when some of the year sixes went to Cwmtawe for the day, the rest of the year sixes did their missions for most of the day.
We get Redcritter points for completing missions. We do the missions so that children can pick and choose what work they do. We normally do the missions for a hour.
I asked Leah what she thought about the missions. She said, "These tasks are really good because you get to pick what you want to do. And its just really fun. It's more fun than sitting in class doing work."
We will try our best to finish all the missions by Christmas. We all love doing the missions and hope we can do more in the future.
