Mr Henry, one of the school Governors, came in to school today to tell us about the canal. He is a member of the Canal Society which does regular litter picks along the canal and helps keep the canal clean. They recently discovered a Barge up Ynstawe way. They think it might of been used to carry coal up the river Tawe.
Mr Henry taught us about the history of the canal and how people used it in the olden days. We used skateboards as barges and benches as the canal banks. We found out what it was like to be the men and horses that pulled the barges and we also found out what it was like to steer it. We learnt about locks and ways of getting lower and higher in the water. We had a lot of fun.
